The launch of the website and registration is just the beginning for preparation of the 2009 Gay Soccer World Championships. The tournament is being planned and hosted in Washington, D.C. by the Federal Triangles Soccer Club (FTSC) www.federaltriangles.org. The preliminary rounds of the tournament will be played at the Maryland Soccerplex (http://www.mdsoccerplex.org/)
, with the semi-finals and finals being played in Washington, D.C. In addition, FTSC is working closely with the Greater Washington Sports Alliance and Destination DC in the organization of events and venues for the tournament and related events.
2009 will be a great year of change in Washington, DC. IGLFA and FTSC are looking forward to welcoming GLBT soccer players, friends, and family from around the world to the DC region. This year's tournament is uniquely placed in between the Gay Pride Celebrations in Washington DC (June 5-14, 2009) and Baltimore, MD (June 20-21, 2009).

Federal Triangles Soccer Club (FTSC) (http://www.federaltriangles.org/) is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes to promote the growth of soccer and foster a sense of community for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and GLBT-friendly players. FTSC pursues these goals by providing a venue for the play of soccer where players of all levels are encouraged to participate and improve their skills through club-sponsored soccer academy sessions, pick-up play, teams to compete in local soccer leagues, and in local, national, and international tournaments.
